Course Description

This workshop will focus on correlating play therapy and expressive art techniques to use with adolescents and teens. While play therapy is not often utilized with older children, talk therapy may not be the best modality. Expressive arts can bridge the gap and assist adolescents in expressing their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Participants will be actively involved in activities, role play, and gaining new experiences through online tools. Participants will need to have access to a computer for online sandtray activities and also have writing/drawing instruments and paper available.

1. Identify and express an understanding of implementing expressive art techniques and interventions utilizing play therapy skills.
2. Compare how play therapy and expressive arts align.
3. Utilize play therapy skills in expressive arts role-plays.
